Tuna Functional® is a scientifically tested canned tuna which boosts the immune system, health preservation and well-being.

Enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, essential to the body, Tuna Functional® is effective in providing eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) fatty acids, which benefit metabolic functions, such as blood pressure regulation and normal heart activity. These bioactive compounds also play a key role in promoting normal brain function and maintaining normal vision.

Vital supplementation

The consumption of at least 2 cans of Tuna Functional®/week, in the eating habits, helps to strengthen the presence of essential fatty acids, which our body does not have the ability to synthesize and can only be obtained through food or supplementation.

Scientifically proven

Developed by the Ramirez Nutritional Centre (CENUTRA), Tuna Functional® was scientifically tested with the collaboration of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University (ESB) and the Centre for Health Technology and Services (CINTESIS), at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oporto (FMUP). This multidisciplinary team of researchers has proven the bioavailability (the degree to which a substance is absorbed and becomes available for use at the site of action) of omega-3 fatty acids in this canned functional tuna.

The investigators proved that Tuna Functional® therefore has benefits for consumer health*:

EPA and DHA contribute for the normal functioning of the heart – 250 mg / day.

DHA contributes for the maintenance of normal vision – 250 mg / day.

EPA and DHA contribute for the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels – 2 g / day.

EPA and DHA contribute for the maintenance of normal blood pressure – 3 g / day.

DHA contributes for the maintenance of normal brain function – 250 mg / day.

Recommended daily dose = 120 g of total product (tuna + oils). The consumption of combined EPA and DHA / day shall not exceed 5 g.
